We have finished up duplication of the master DVD for the 2011 Supernova Finals. If you ordered a DVD at the competition, be looking in your mailbox for your disc! Here are a few pictures of the “behind the scenes” happenings while we were working at the 2011 Linn-Mar Supernova Show Choir Invitational Saturday.

Here is the control area all packed into an unused hallway to the side of the event. In the foreground is Joe working on the graphics and Matt is in the background getting ready for his audio mixing duties.

We didn’t get any pictures of Frank and Allison, who were up in the dark catwalks manning two of the cameras. We’ll try harder next time to get them!

2011 Linn-Mar Supernova Show Choir Invitational

Another year of show choir competitions has gotten off to a terrific start at Linn-Mar’s Supernova Show Choir Invitational held this last Saturday at Linn-Mar High School.

A total of 16 groups, coming from schools around Iowa and Minnesota, performed during the day with additional exhibition performances by Linn-Mar’s own Hi-Style, In Step, and 10th Street Edition.

Nepo Productions was there to capture and produce every single group’s performance with 5 cameras. We brought along our crane to get sweeping shots that seems to put the viewer right up on stage with the performers! DVDs of the individual day-round performances and the entire finals session are available now at www.TheNepoStore.com!

Here’s the results from the competition!

• Grand Champion – Totino Grace Company of Singers
• 1st Runner Up – Cedar Rapids Kennedy Happiness, Inc.
• 2nd Runner Up – Cedar Rapids Jefferson West Side Delegation
• 3rd Runner Up – Bemidji Vocalmotive
• 4th Runner Up – Iowa City West Good Time Company
• 5th Runner Up – Davenport Central Central Singers, Inc.

Company of Singers also took home Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best Band, and member Jillian Rice won the Best Female Solo award. Happiness, Inc.’s James Odegaard grabbed the Best Male Solo award.

In the Prep Division, Cedar Rapids Kennedy Protégé won the right to give an exhibition performance in the night’s finals r0und with their Prep Grand Champion trophy. They also won Best Vocals, Best Choreography, and Best Band in their division.

Since we’ve moved into the new place, we’ve been updating quite a bit around here. Most of the updates are “behind the scenes” boring stuff, but we did get our main website redesigned. We would love it if you took a look and let us know what you think. www.NepoProductions.com

We’ve already had a few people call and say they missed Eric hanging upside down from their browser. We are working on getting him back in there. For now, you can visit this post from a while ago and see the different ways he left the screen.

Nepo Productions has a fresh new wedding demo reel!

One of our editors, Matt, sifted through the hours and hours of footage from the weddings produced by Nepo Productions throughout 2010. We then picked out some cool music, and he went to work. While Matt was slaving away, Joe was busy trying to capture Eric’s green-screen footage for the end of the video. Normally this would be no problem, but Eric seems to have trouble remembering more than 1-2 lines! (we may have to post the bloopers)

I know, I know, it’s been a little while since we’ve last talked. But we’ve got big news. Nepo Productions has moved to a big new space! We can now edit and not bump elbows with the editor next to us! We are in downtown Marion at 1176 7th Ave, just a couple of doors down from Irwin’s Clothing.

We’re upstairs in a big room with tall ceilings, wood floors, and now… a bunch of computers and equipment. We created a video we call “5 Days in 60 Seconds”. We placed a camera in the corner of the room for the first 5 days of painting, moving in equipment, and setting up shop. Then we sped it up to make it interesting. (who wants to watch 5 days of video!) Look toward the bottom of this post for the video.

If you are out and about in Marion, please stop by. We would love to show off our new place!

We’ve all had little sleep in the last couple of weeks, but the Nepo crew are keeping up with delivery dates of dance recitals all around Iowa.

This week we will be at Donna’s Dance Place today, Wednesday, to hand out DVDs and Blu-ray discs to those who chose to pick there orders up. One of our Nepo Productions representatives will be at Donna’s from 5pm until 7pm. If you can’t make it then, you can pay to have your order shipped over in our online store at www.TheNepoStore.com.

For those of you who paid to have your orders shipped, those will be in the mail Thursday morning.

The Dancer’s Edge 2010 recital DVDs and Blu-ray discs are duplicated, printed, packaged, and ready for delivery. A Nepo Productions representative will be at The Dancer’s Edge studio tonight, Wednesday night, from 5pm until 7 pm to hand out orders to customers who chose to pick up their DVDs and Blu-rays.

If you can’t make it in to pick up your order, you can pay for the shipping in our online store at www.TheNepoStore.com.

All orders that were to be shipped will be in the mail by Thursday morning.
