Nepo Productions has been capturing its events in full high definition for over a year now. All of those events have been edited and saved as a high definition project up until we produced the final DVDs for delivery. At that point we had to compress the HD file down to an anamorphic 16×9 standard definition file that would work within the DVD specifications.

Clients started to ask about when we would deliver in Blu-ray so they could see their projects in full HD on their new Blu-ray players. With prices on Blu-ray players finally coming down to a somewhat reasonable level, we thought it was time to offer the option. We delivered our first Blu-ray discs for The Dance Connection recital in Webster City. We popped the first Blu-ray disc burned into our player and checked it out on Nepo’s 42″ 1080p TV. We were all amazed at the quality of the graphics and footage! The opening routine from the recital included dancers with feather boas. By the end of the routine we could see all sorts of tiny feathers that had fallen off floating through the air. We didn’t notice the feathers in the standard definition footage, it was really amazing!

So whether you have to have the newest of everything and have had a Blu-ray player for a while, or maybe have a DVD player that is getting a little old and are looking at upgrading, keep our Blu-ray option in mind to help grow your collection of Blu-ray discs.

Last Saturday, May 29th, we packed our cameras and traveled to Ottumwa for Som and Dan’s wedding. The couple had a traditional ceremony followed by a Laotian wedding. That’s right, we captured two separate ceremonies! Then we edited the footage that day so the guests could see the movie on the big screen at the reception. Memorial Day weekend was a busy weekend for the Nepo crew. After traveling to Ames late Saturday night following a separate event Saturday, the crew got a few hours of sleep. Eric, Katie, Frank, Ben, and Joe got up and headed to Stephens Auditorium on the Iowa State campus and began setting equipment up for Nicole’s School of Dance 2010 recital. By 10AM, we were doing final line checks and were ready for the first of three recitals beginning at 11AM.

We survived the day, mostly due to being able to find enough time to send a camera guy to Great Plains Sauce & Dough Co after the 11AM show. Ben came back with 2 large pizzas, some of the best pizza in Iowa if you ask any of the Nepo crew!

We finally wrapped at about 11PM and headed back to Cedar Rapids. A long day of recitals, but we always enjoy Nicole’s shows.

Dance Arts Iowa DVDs are finished and available to be picked up at the Dance Arts Iowa studio in Mt. Vernon. If you can’t make it to pick them up there, we will be at Dance Arts Iowa’s parking lot Thursday, June 3rd to hand out orders.

The Webster City Dance Connection recital DVDs will be released on Thursday, June 17th. We will be in the parking lot from 5pm until 7pm to hand out the DVDs.

The mp3s of the Home School Band, Choir, and Orchestra Spring Concert are available for download now at TheNepoStore.com.

The CDs are nearly finished. They should be delivered by Friday.

Dance Connection Iowa Falls 2010 recital DVDs are finished. If you chose to pick them up, you can do so at the “Picture pick-up” at the Iowa Falls Community Theater Tuesday May 18th from 4PM until 8PM.

If you chose to have your order mailed, it will be mailed out Tuesday. So you can look for your order by the end of the week!

2010 Dance Connection recital - Iowa Falls

Last Sunday afternoon Nepo Productions sent a crew to Iowa Falls to capture The Dance Connections’ 2010 recital held at the Iowa Falls high school auditorium.

Within two hours our crew had the six high definition cameras set up and ready to go. After a quick bite, the cameras were manned and the recital, “Steppin’ Out with TDC”, started right no time.
