Nepo Productions delivers a Same Day Edit for wedding reception

Last Saturday, May 29th, we packed our cameras and traveled to Ottumwa for Som and Dan’s wedding. The couple had a traditional ceremony followed by a Laotian wedding. That’s right, we captured two separate ceremonies! Then we edited the footage that day so the guests could see the movie on the big screen at the reception. Read more and see a portion of the video…
While Dan and Som were busy with our 3 cameras following them everywhere, one of our editors, Matt, set up shop in the basement of the Penn Ave Free Methodist Church. While the ceremony was going on upstairs, Matt got busy putting together the footage we shot of the couple getting ready. After the ceremony, the Nepo crew moved back to the Bridge View Center for the Laotian wedding followed by the reception. Again, Matt set up shop in a quiet room and started to work on the footage we had just shot of the ceremony. By the time the Laotian wedding was done, another videographer handed Matt a few more clips to use and he added those to the project and was rendering out a final movie.
While the guests were enjoying drinks and getting served their fantastic meals, we set up our projector and screen, did a quick sound check, and started our pre-produced slideshow of Som and Dan growing up. Immediately following the slideshow, theĀ “Same Day Edit” started. The guests, and more importantly, Dan, Som and their parents loved the movie. Dan’s dad was quoted as saying, “That was the coolest fricken’ thing I’ve ever seen!” We considered it a success!
Here is a portion of the clip we showed at the reception.
