2010 Dutch Masters Invitational

2010 Dutch Masters Invitational

Nepo Productions spent the weekend in Pella for the 2010 Dutch Masters Show Choir Invitational. We had a crew of seven on hand for the event which expanded from a single day competition last year to two days this year. Nepo Productions brought in our normal video production equipment along with projectors, plasma screen, and sound system to help make sure everyone in the auditorium and cafeteria could see and here the performances as well as the announcements between the competing groups.

Two schools were unable to attend the Friday evening middle school competition due to snow. But that didn’t keep the staff and volunteers from Dutch Masters from putting on a good show.

The three competing schools remaining were Vermillion S.D. Music in Motion, Hudson Premier Edition and LaSalle Center Stage. Pella’s own PELLAdrenaline had an exhibition performance and AcaPella helped fill out the night with a performance of their own.

LaSalle had a good night, winning Grand Champion and taking Best Vocals and Best Choreography as well. Hudson Premier Edition took Best Band.

Saturday’s competition included 16 groups, but only six could make it to the finals. West Liberty Voices Unlimited, Hudson First Edition, West Branch Christopher Jive and the Uptown 45, Benton Community Celebration Co., Mt. Pleasant InMotion, and Center Point-Urbana Summit Street Singers all competed for hardware Saturday night. Here’s how it shook out…

  • Grand Champion – Benton Community Celebration Co. (See a short clip of their performance below!)
  • 1st Runner Up – Mt. Pleasant InMotion
  • 2nd Runner Up – Center Point-Urbana Summit Street Singers
  • 3rd Runner Up – West Branch Christopher Jive and the Uptown 45
  • 4th Runner Up – Hudson First Edition
  • 5th Runner Up – West Liberty Voices Unlimited

Congratulations to Benton Community’s Celebration Co.!
